When Is The Champions League Draw?
The draw for the 2022/23 Champions League group stage will take place once this week’s play-offs have concluded.
This is scheduled for the 31st August in Monaco, with the ceremony beginning at around 5pm GMT.
Which Teams Have Already Qualified?
Six teams will progress in this week’s play-off second legs, completing the draw of 32 teams for this year.
Below we have listed all 26 of the teams already confirmed to be in the group stage, with Union Berlin the only debutants at the time of writing, while Lens and Newcastle both compete for the first time since 2002.

Champions League Draw Confirmed Pots
The 32 teams will be split into four different pots, with factors such as domestic champions, last season’s performances and UEFA coefficient rankings all determinants as to where a given team is placed.
Pot one features title holders Manchester City alongside Europa League winners Sevilla, as well as the champions of the top six national leagues based on UEFA country coefficients.
Elsewhere, the remaining three pots are populated according to a team’s UEFA coefficient rankings.
Teams who play in the same domestic league can not be draw together; for example, pot one headliners Manchester City can not be draw against Arsenal in pot two.
Pot 1: Manchester City, Sevilla, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Paris-Saint Germain, Benfica, Feyenoord, Napoli.
Pot 2: Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Porto.
Pot 3: Red Star Belgrade, Shakhtar Donetsk, Red Bull Salzburg, AC Milan, Lazio.
Pot 4: Newcastle, Union Berlin, Lens.
Unconfirmed: Real Sociedad, Celtic

When Does The Champions League Group Stage Start?
The opening round of the Champions League group stage is slated for September 19th, with the final matchday taking place mid-way through December. See below for the provisional dates, which will be confirmed after the draw has been made.
