Ondo State in Nigeria experiences a tragedy that struck the Ayotunde family of Oyinmo Quarters in Ikare Akoko in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area as a son killed his mother and committed suicide 

The son, who’s name is Gbenga, allegedly killed his 57-year-old mother, Ajimo, in Akure on Thursday during an argument that led to fight. 

It was reported that , Gbenga fled Akure to Ikare Akoko where he committed suicide inside the family house on Friday.

The report also had it that the mother of five had three children with Gbenga’s father in Ikare before remarrying in Akure where she was living before the deadly incident. And also said that, “Gbenga, after killing his mother in Akure on Thursday, fled to Ikare Akoko where he stayed with his grandmother at Oyinmo Quarters. When he suspected that there were plans to hand him over to the police, he sneaked into the kitchen at about 3am on Friday to hang himself while others were sleeping. 

His dangling lifeless body was found by a relation who went to use the restroom in the morning and cried out ”

The Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, saying the police had begun an investigation into the the incident .

L’État d’Ondo au Nigeria vit une tragédie qui a frappé la famille Ayotunde des quartiers d’Oyinmo à Ikare Akoko, dans la zone de gouvernement local d’Akoko Nord-Est, lorsqu’un fils a tué sa mère et s’est suicidé

Le fils, qui s’appelle Gbenga, aurait tué jeudi à Akure sa mère, Ajimo, âgée de 57 ans, lors d’une dispute qui a conduit à une bagarre.

Gbenga aurait fui Akure pour se rendre à Ikare Akoko, où il s’était suicidé vendredi dans la maison familiale.

Selon la même source, la mère de cinq enfants aurait eu trois enfants avec le père de Gbenga à Ikare avant de se remarier à Akure où elle vivait avant l’incident mortel. Il a également déclaré que «Gbenga, après avoir tué sa mère à Akure jeudi, s’est enfui à Ikare Akoko où il est resté avec sa grand-mère à Oyinmo Quarters. Lorsqu’il soupçonnait qu’il était prévu de le remettre à la police, il se glissa dans la cuisine vendredi vers 3 heures du matin pour se pendre pendant que d’autres dormaient.

Son corps sans vie a été retrouvé par un parent qui est allé utiliser les toilettes le matin et a crié »

Le responsable des relations publiques de la police nigériane dans l’État, M. Femi Joseph, a confirmé l’incident, affirmant que la police avait ouvert une enquête à ce sujet.
