“They warned me not to shout or I will be killed” – 14-year-old boy narrates how he escaped from suspected kidnappers in Ondo
A 14-year-old boy, Marvelous Ayomide Ogunjolu, has narrated how escaped from the hands of hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers in Ondo State.
According to the state-owned newspaper, the boy was kidnapped along Ojomu’s palace in Owo, when he was coming from where he went to buy toothpaste for his father on Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2023.
Narrating his experience, the boy said his abductors were forced to drop him after he started screaming upon sighting a police car.
“My father sent me to buy toothpaste in the afternoon. And on my way back from the shop where I bought the toothpaste, I saw some men and they asked me to follow them. They warned me not to shout or they will kill me with a gun,” the boy narrated.
“I was afraid. So, I went with them, because I didn’t want them to kill me. All along, I was crying. They drove through Akure to Ondo and later to Ore,”
“This morning (Thursday), they came back to Ondo. I was in the car, when I saw a police car coming and blowing sirens. So, I started shouting for help. The kidnappers were afraid and they drove off to a street and dropped me there,”
“When I asked passersby for the name of the street, I was told it is called Akinjagunla. I want to call my daddy to tell him that I am in Ondo now.”
It was gathered that the culprits ran away after dropping the boy.
It was also learnt that residents of the area called the Amotekun corps and handed over the boy to them for proper investigation
