UCL: Man City cruise to semis with 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich ( AGG 4-1) in the quarter finals 1st and 2nd legs
Bayern Munich vs. Manchester City score: Erling Haaland scores, Pep Guardiola’s men cruise to semis with draw
Manchester City, as expected, are through to the UEFA Champions League semifinals after drawing Bayern Munich on Wednesday, 1-1. Pep Guardiola’s men advanced 4-1 on aggregate and will now face titleholders Real Madrid in the semifinals next month. City faced Real in the semis last season, blowing a lead at the Santiago Bernabeu before falling in extra time.
The winner of that tie will take on either AC Milan or Inter in the June 10 final in Istanbul.
As for this one, Bayern had their chances early on and nearly scored through two fine looks from Leroy Sane, but the first was a golden chance in the box as the former City man sent the ball wide of the frame. The match looked done and dusted when City got a penalty kicks in the first half, but Erling Haaland’s attempt ended up over the bar.
The Norwegian would make up for it though, finishing calmly on the counter in the second half to end any chance of a Bayern comeback. Bayern added a late penalty kick goal from Joshua Kimmich.
With this result, City once again move to within 180 minutes of their second UCL final. The club have never won the competition, reaching the final once in 2021, losing to Chelsea 1-0. Real, meanwhile, have won a record 14 UCL titles.
Manchester City in the semi finals will face the 14 times winner Real Madrid the defending Champions
