UEL Group stage draw: Liverpool face Toulese, Brighton meet Ajax & Marseille

The Hammers were the first side out of the pot as they were drawn in Group A after winning the Europa Conference League last year.

David Moyes’ side will face Olympiacos, Freiburg and Backa Topola as they look to reach the Europa League final and make it back-to-back European trophies.

However, they face a tough task of doing so with many tough sides in the tournament such as fellow Premier League side Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were drawn in Group E and will travel to Austria to face LASK Linz, Belgian side Union SG and French team Toulouse.

Brighton, on the other hand, face a tricky task to qualify from Group B.

Dutch giants Ajax were first out of the pot in the group, and were soon joined by French side Marseille.

Then came Brighton and AEK Athens as the Seagulls were named in what is surely the toughest group of the competition on paper.

Elsewhere, Scottish side Rangers were named in Group C alongside Real Betis, Sparta Praha and Aris Limasson.

Xabi Alonso could face his former side Liverpool but to do so he must guide his Bayer Leverkusen team out of Group H as they face Qarabag, Molde and Hacken.
