Ex Chelsea Coach Thomas Tuchel lined up as replacement for Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is poised to replace Julian Nagelsmann as the Bayern Munich manager.

Bayern are set to announce the departure of Nagelsmann on Friday.

The 35-year-old won the league with the German giants last season and is highly rated within the game.

However, he is set to be dismissed from his role following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, which has left them a point off leaders Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Tuchel has already been primed to take over ahead of a crunch month for the German giants.

Bayern face bitter rivals Dortmund on April then Tuchel faces a reunion with Pep Guardiola in the Champions League semi-finals.

Tuchel mastermined Chelsea’s victory over Manchester City in the 2020/21 Champions League final.

Tuchel spent over a year-and-a-half at the Blues, winning the Super Cup and Club World Cup as well as the UCL.

However, Tuchel was sacked by Todd Boehly in September following his takeover of the Premier League club.

Should Bayern beat Manchester City, they could face Chelsea in the semi-finals – if the Blues get past Real Madrid – meaning Tuchel would come up against his replacement Graham Potter on the touchline just months after his dismissal.

Jamie O’Hara, meanwhile, believes Nagelsmann’s availibility should alert Tottenham.

Following the news of his impending departure from Bayern, the former Spurs midfielder tweeted: “Nagelsmann sacked by Bayern, Spurs should get straight on the phone to him.”

Current boss Antonio Conte is facing the sack following his dramatic outburst after their 3-3 draw against Southampton.

The Italian is also unpopular with many senior Spurs players, and his tenure in north London could therefore be coming to an end.
