Court Sacks Senator Ifeanyi Ubah representing Anambra South in the Nigeria Senate. 

 

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in the Bwari area of Abuja has sacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP). .

 

Senator Ubah was the lawmaker representing Anambra South district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly , Nigeria.

 

In a ruling on Friday, Justice Bello Kawu refused to reverse the judgement of the court delivered in December which removed Uba as a member of the Senate.

 

He, however, ordered that Mr Obinna Uzoh of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had challenged Ubah’s victory in the February 23 poll, be recognised as the winner of the election.

 

The judge also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Uzoh, the applicant, as the senator-elect in the district. the PDP candidate alleged that his YPP counterpart presented a forged National Examination Council (NECO) secondary school certificate to INEC, which enabled him to contest the Anambra South senatorial election.

 

He also insisted that Ubah’s party should be disqualified for not conducting a primary for its candidates in the poll.

La Cour limoge le Sénateur Ifeanyi Ubah représentant Anambra Sud au Sénat du Nigeria.

 

 Une Haute Cour du Territoire de la capitale fédérale (FCT) siégeant dans la région de Bwari à Abuja a limogé le sénateur Ifeanyi Ubah du Parti des jeunes progressistes (YPP). .

 

 Le sénateur Ubah était le législateur représentant le district d’Anambra Sud à la chambre haute de l’Assemblée nationale, au Nigéria.

Dans une décision rendue vendredi, le juge Bello Kawu a refusé d’annuler le jugement du tribunal rendu en décembre qui avait révoqué Uba en tant que membre du Sénat.

 

 Il a toutefois ordonné que Mr. Obinna Uzoh du Parti démocratique des peuples (PDP), qui avait contesté la victoire d’Ubah lors du scrutin du 23 février, soit reconnu comme le vainqueur de l’élection.

 

 Le juge a également ordonné à la Commission électorale nationale indépendante (INEC) de délivrer un certificat de retour à Uzoh, le requérant, en tant que sénateur élu du district. le candidat du PDP a allégué que son homologue du YPP avait présenté à l’INEC un faux certificat d’études secondaires du National Examination Council (NECO), ce qui lui avait permis de se présenter aux élections sénatoriales d’Anambra Sud.

 

 Il a également insisté sur le fait que le parti d’Ubah devrait être disqualifié pour ne pas avoir organisé une primaire pour ses candidats au scrutin.
